What is Re-Engage?
When an AI conversation is active and a lead stops responding, the AI can automatically send a follow-up message after a set waiting period. This is called Re-Engage.
Instead of the conversation going cold, the AI nudges the lead and gives the conversation another chance to complete.
Setting Up Your Re-Engage Schedule
Re-engage wait times are configured on the AI Question Template page.
Marketing → AI Agent → Question Template
In the Reengage After (Minutes) section, you can define a sequence of wait times. Each entry controls how long the AI will wait before sending the next follow-up if the lead still has not responded.
You can add multiple entries to build a full retry schedule. For example:
- Wait 60 minutes
- Then wait 24 hours
- Then wait 3 days
The Retry Timeline panel on the right side of the page gives you a visual preview of the full sequence, including the message the AI will send at each step.
Set any entry to 0 to disable re-engage entirely.
Dynamic Re-Engage Timing
In addition to your configured schedule, the AI automatically scans each conversation before scheduling a follow-up.
If the lead expressed a preferred time to be re-contacted, the AI will use that time instead of your configured wait time for that follow-up attempt.
Examples include:
- “Text me back in a couple hours”
- “Try me again tomorrow morning”
- “Reach out on Monday”
- “Call me at 3pm”
In these cases, the AI schedules the next follow-up based on the lead’s requested timing. The configured schedule resumes normally on subsequent attempts.
The AI accounts for the lead’s local timezone when interpreting clock-time requests, so “3pm” means 3pm where the lead is located, not server time.
If no time preference is detected in the conversation, the AI falls back to your configured wait time as normal.
