Applies to: Leap CRM integrations
Summary
When a lead comes in through a HeavySet-powered form, we pass the lead’s source—such as Angie’s List, Google Ads, or Truck Graphics—into Leap CRM so the lead is correctly attributed in Leap’s Referral Source Report.
Leads are matched against the actual referral sources configured in your Leap account instead of automatically being placed in the generic “Other” bucket.
How It Works
1. The lead source is captured
The source is captured from the lead’s landing page using either:
- A source URL parameter, such as
?source=Angie+List - UTM or campaign tracking already configured on your account
2. The source is matched to your Leap referral catalog
We compare the captured source against the referral sources configured in your Leap account.
This is the same referral source list used to populate:
- The Referred Type dropdown
- The rows in Leap’s Referral Source Report
3. Matching is tolerant, not exact-string-only
We first look for an exact match.
If an exact match is not found, we use fuzzy matching to look for a source that is approximately 75% similar or better.
For example:
?source=Angie+List
can correctly match a Leap referral source named:
Angie's List
The punctuation and wording do not need to match perfectly.
4. Unmatched sources use your configured fallback
If no referral source matches closely enough, the lead is assigned to the Fallback Referral Source configured on the Leap Preferences page in the admin.
If no fallback referral source is configured, the lead is assigned to Leap’s generic “Other” referral type, which was the previous default behavior.
What You Need to Do
- Make sure the source values used in your ad campaigns and landing pages reasonably resemble the referral source names configured in your Leap account. Exact matches are not required, but significantly different naming may prevent a match.
- Set a Fallback Referral Source on the Leap Preferences page if you want unmatched leads routed to a specific referral source instead of Leap’s generic “Other” type.
- No changes are required on Leap’s side. Referral source matching happens automatically whenever a lead is created or updated.
Example
A lead submitted through:
https://yourdomain.com/landing-page/?source=Angie+List
will be matched to an “Angie’s List” referral source configured in your Leap account.
The lead will then appear under the correct row in Leap’s Referral Source Report instead of being grouped under “Other.”
